North Yorkshire Police’s Rural Task Force has won a national award for a crime prevention project covering more than 1,500 farms.
The team was recognised for the ‘most innovative acquisitive crime reduction project’ at the National Acquisitive Crime Reduction Awards.
The force has been leading the UK’s largest rural rollout of SelectaDNA property marking, helping to protect farms across North Yorkshire.
The award highlighted the partnership-led initiative’s effectiveness in protecting high-risk assets and disrupting organised crime, recognising it as a national model for rural crime prevention.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:
“We’re proud to share that our Rural Task Force has been recognised at the National Acquisitive Crime Reduction Awards.”
The force is also encouraging people who live or work in the countryside to seek advice on protecting their property.
The spokesperson added:
“If you live or work in the countryside, and feel you would benefit from bespoke crime prevention advice, don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
