A Hellifield businessman has raised more than £1,400 for The Principle Trust Children’s Charity after completing a 50-mile run across the Lake District.
Mark Rogerson, owner of Rogerson’s Window Cleaning, took on the Lakes in a Day challenge on Saturday, running from Caldbeck to Cartmel.
The route included 4,000 metres of ascent, taking the keen fell runner over Helvellyn Ridge and along the shoreline of Lake Windermere.
Money raised will help the charity provide free, week-long respite breaks for children across Yorkshire facing challenges including trauma and mental health difficulties.
Mark, a father of two, is a long-term supporter of the charity and took part in the Skipton Santa Fun Run with his daughters in 2023.
He has also completed the Ben Nevis race, The Lap, the Yorkshire Three Peaks race and the Haworth Hobble.
Mark said:
“As a father, I know how important those moments are. Every child deserves the chance to make happy memories with their family, regardless of the challenges they face.
“The Lakes in a Day was tough but an unforgettable day, knowing I was raising money for The Principle Trust gave me the motivation to keep going. I am incredibly proud to have completed it, and I want to thank everyone who donated.”
Kerry Magson, Head of Partnerships, Service Delivery, and Engagement at The Principle Trust Children’s Charity, said:
“From all of us at The Principle Trust, we would like to say a huge thanks to Mark.
“As a long-term supporter of the charity, his continued dedication and fundraising efforts mean so much to us. It has been brilliant to see him take on this challenge and fundraise for a charity that is so close to his heart.
“Every penny raised will make a real difference to the families we support as the respite breaks give them the opportunity to relax, reconnect and create lasting memories together.”
