A footbridge in Skipton is set to close for around seven weeks as work gets underway to replace its central span.
The Tin Footbridge will be closed to pedestrians from Monday 2 November until Friday 18 December, with the canal beneath it also closed during the works.
The project will involve removing the existing bridge section and installing a replacement, with two major operations planned for November.
The existing bridge will be removed on Saturday 21 November, with work taking place between 6am and 11pm.
The new bridge will then be installed on Saturday 28 November, between 6am and 9pm.
A crane will be positioned at the junction of Union Terrace and Union Wharf, immediately west of the bridge, to carry out both operations.
This will require full road closures on both Saturdays.
The works will also affect parking in the town centre, with part of Cavendish Street car park closed throughout the project to accommodate a site compound.
The car park will be subject to two full-day closures on Saturday 21 November and Saturday 28 November.
Pedestrian access to properties within the affected area will be maintained throughout the works using a temporary route through the private ginnel at Whitfield Court.
The replacement project is scheduled to be completed by Friday 18 December, subject to the works progressing as planned.
