New Halloween escape room challenge launches at Skipton attraction

Families will still have the full 90-minute session to explore the castle, with the Halloween quest included in standard admission at no additional cost.

A new Halloween-themed escape room challenge has launched at The Hidden Castle in Skipton for the October half-term holidays.

The family attraction, based at Craven Community Hub on Skipton High Street, has introduced 'The Curse of The Hidden Castle', combining medieval role-play with puzzles, riddles and hidden clues.

The castle has been decorated for Halloween, with families challenged to work together to uncover a witch's secrets and break a mysterious curse.

Visitors will need to solve puzzles and crack codes hidden throughout the attraction before completing a final challenge to claim their reward.

The activity is aimed mainly at children aged five to ten, although younger children can take part with help from adults.

Ruth Owens, from The Hidden Castle, said:

“We’ve always loved escape rooms ourselves, so we really wanted to bring some of that puzzle-solving and discovery into The Hidden Castle in a way that families could enjoy together.

“This Halloween quest is our first real trial of that idea.

We’re hoping to eventually incorporate more puzzles and interactive challenges permanently throughout the castle, giving older children and grown-ups more to get involved with while still keeping all the imaginative role-play that younger children love.

“For us, it’s about creating something the whole family can genuinely take part in together, rather than the adults simply watching the children play.”

The new challenge runs alongside the attraction's usual medieval experience, where children can dress up as knights and royalty, explore secret passages and discover dragons.

Other areas include a medieval market, apothecary, kitchen, Great Hall, dungeon and lookout tower.

Families will still have the full 90-minute session to explore the castle, with the Halloween quest included in standard admission at no additional cost.

The Hidden Castle will be open every day throughout October half term, with selected 'Little Knights' sessions for children aged up to five on some mornings.

Sessions can be booked online at thehiddencastle.co.uk.
