Walkers are being invited to take on an 18-mile challenge around Skipton next month to raise money for people living with dementia across North Yorkshire.
Dementia Forward’s annual Skipton Three Peaks event will take place on Sunday, September 20th, with participants tackling three of the area's well-known hills: Sharp Haw, Embsay Crag and Skipton Moor.
The walk will begin and finish at Skipton Community Sports Hub, with registration from 7am and the event expected to finish by 5pm.
The route is estimated to take between six and eight hours to complete.
Entry costs £20 and includes a T-shirt, breakfast and a goodie bag.
Participants are also asked to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship, with the money helping Dementia Forward provide its local services for people living with dementia and their families.
The route covers approximately 18 miles and includes steep climbs, with walkers warned to expect rough, uneven and potentially muddy terrain. Organisers are advising participants to come prepared for changing weather conditions and to wear suitable footwear and clothing.
There will be two rest stops providing water along the route, although walkers are responsible for making sure they have enough food and water to complete the challenge.
Dementia Forward will also have first aid provision in place, with trained walkers positioned at the front and back of the group.
The charity is based in North Yorkshire and provides support, advice and information to people affected by dementia across the county and York.
Its services include dementia support advisors, wellbeing activities and local groups.
In Skipton, Dementia Forward currently runs Welcome Wednesday, a weekly drop-in group for people experiencing memory problems and those who support them. The group takes place at The Three Links Club at Oddfellows Hall.
The challenge is being sponsored by Barcester.
Anyone interested in taking part can book their place through Dementia Forward's event page.
Places require a £20 registration fee, with participants then asked to complete a registration form and agree to the event's terms and conditions.
