Businesses in Skipton are being urged to remain vigilant after a number of counterfeit £20 notes were used in the town.
Traders have been advised to take extra care when accepting £20 notes and check their security features.
Checks include looking for the hologram which changes between the words "Twenty" and "Pounds", as well as the clear see-through window.
Genuine notes should also feature raised print which can be felt, sharp and high-quality printing and the correct foil colours and security features.
A spokesperson for Skipton BID said:
"A number of counterfeit £20 notes have recently been used in town.
"Please take a moment to check any £20 notes you receive."
The warning encourages businesses to remain vigilant and help prevent counterfeit notes being circulated among traders in the town.
