MP raises concerns over Silsden housing development construction works

Robbie Moore MP with Persimmons.

Residents in Silsden have raised concerns about ongoing construction work at a Persimmon housing development off Bolton Road.

Local MP Robbie Moore has met with Persimmon representatives on site after being contacted by residents about the impact of the development, which will deliver 139 new homes.

Mr Moore said he had never supported the development and had previously submitted a lengthy objection when the planning application was being considered by Bradford Council.

He also encouraged local residents to object to the plans at the time.

The MP has now said he is continuing to raise concerns with the developer as construction progresses.

Among the issues raised during his meeting with Persimmon were traffic management around the entrance to the development, construction lorries being parked on the road and pavement, and the condition of Bolton Road.

Mr Moore said residents had raised concerns about the need for proper resurfacing of Bolton Road following works earlier in the year.

Dust and mud being left on the road have also been raised as issues.

In a statement, Mr Moore said:

“Huge thanks to all who have kindly contacted me about the ongoing Persimmon Housing Development in Silsden, just off Bolton Road.”

“Silsden simply cannot cope with further development,”.

He said he had previously argued that Bradford Council should not have approved the development without greater consideration being given to local infrastructure and services.

With construction now underway, Mr Moore said his focus was on ensuring residents' concerns are passed directly to Persimmon and that the developer is held accountable for the impact of the works on the surrounding community.

He added that he would continue to raise issues with the developer as the project progresses.

“As the construction works progress, I will continue to hold Persimmon to account, ensuring that the concerns residents raise with me are directly passed on and properly addressed by the developer,”.
