EasyJet announces it will stop flying from Leeds Bradford Airport

EasyJet has announced it will stop flying from Leeds Bradford Airport early next year.

The airline has confirmed it will no longer operate flights from the Yorkshire airport after 5th January 2027 following a review of its routes.

Passengers with bookings beyond that date are being contacted and will be offered the option of transferring to a flight from another airport free of charge or receiving a refund.

EasyJet currently operates routes from Leeds Bradford to destinations including Belfast, Paris, Malaga, Palma and Geneva.

The airline said the decision had been made as it focuses on routes which are proving most popular with customers.

An EasyJet spokesperson said:

“Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January.

“Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers.

“We have contacted customers with bookings beyond this date to provide them with advance notice and inform them of their options, including a free transfer to flights from an alternative airport or a refund, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.

“We value the relationship we have built with Leeds Bradford Airport and we always keep options for our network under review, with the aim of providing more choice and connectivity where we see demand.”

The announcement comes two weeks after it was revealed EasyJet is set to be taken over by private equity firm Apollo in a £5.7billion deal.

The airline has also reported a 70 per cent fall in profits amid lower bookings and increased jet fuel costs.
