Sutton in Craven Cricket Club have made a £250 donation to Airedale Hospital & Community Charity following their 2024 annual charity match.
The team have also followed their tradition and donated cricket sets and selection boxes to the unit.
In 2021, club member, Stuart Todd decided to donate the sets and selection boxes to the unit for the children spending time in the hospital during Christmas.
In 2022, the club hosted its first annual charity match after several cancelled events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, proceeds from the event were donated to the Children’s Unit.
The match has now become a staple in the calendar with the club making donations in 2023 and 2024.
Stuart Todd commented:
“As a club we’re really proud to have supported Airedale’s Children’s Unit for a few years now.
“It gives us a great feeling to be in a position to give back to local people particularly being in such a close location to our ground.
“The annual match is one of our busiest days of the year, it’s great to see so many people come forward to support what we’re doing.
“I’d like to personally thank everyone who has supported Sutton-in-Craven Cricket Club throughout the year and for giving us the opportunity to give back. We look forward to supporting Airedale Charity and the patients of Airedale in the future.”
Funds raised for Airedale Hospital and Community Charity help the improvement of staff and patient wellbeing at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and the surrounding community, providing items and services that are above and beyond NHS provision.
Jodie Hearnshaw, Charity Manager said:
“We’re really pleased to have once again been the recipient of a donation from Sutton CC.
“The team have been such fabulous supporters of our charity, and they never miss an opportunity to give back where they can.
“The cricket sets are always well received by our patients.
It’s a brilliant way for children to stay active and entertained during their stay with us.”
“The donations we have received from Sutton CC over the years have helped our patients, their families and our colleagues.
“We’re really grateful for the club’s continued support.”
