Students across North Yorkshire are celebrating after receiving their A Level, BTEC and T Level results today (Thursday).
Schools across the county have reported strong performances, with thousands of 17 and 18-year-olds finding out whether they have secured university places or their next steps into employment and training.
At Settle College Sixth Form, A*-B grades were above the national average in several subjects, including Photography, Biology, English Language and Psychology.
More than 75% of grades achieved in vocational Business Studies, IT and Sport were Distinction or Distinction*.
Head boy Edward Whaley achieved A, B, B in Biology, Geography and Mathematics and will now study Architecture at the University of Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Cameron Ettenfield, who joined Settle College Sixth Form after completing Key Stage 4 at Skipton Academy, achieved B, B, C in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
He said:
“I’m so happy, I have done much better than I could have thought of and I’m now heading to study Chemistry at Newcastle University.”
Settle College headteacher Gareth Whitaker said:
“I am incredibly proud of every student receiving their results today.
“These achievements represent years of hard work, dedication and perseverance, and each student should take great pride in what they have accomplished.”
Elsewhere in North Yorkshire, more than 70% of grades at Ripon Grammar School were A*-B, with more than 40% awarded at A* or A.
The school's 164 students achieved a total of 105 A* grades, with eight students securing four A*s or more.
King James's School in Knaresborough also reported strong results, with more than half of grades at A*-B and 90% of university applicants securing a place.
Cllr Annabel Wilkinson, North Yorkshire Council's executive member for education, learning and skills, congratulated students across the county.
She said:
“These results reflect the hard work, commitment and resilience shown by our young people throughout their studies.
“They have opened exciting opportunities for the future, whether that is progressing to university, further education, an apprenticeship, training or employment.”
Across the UK, 228,990 students secured their firm-choice university place, while 31,770 secured their insurance choice.
