Spellman Care homes are launching Veterans Cafes across its four homes in the Craven area.
This initiative follows the company's recent accreditation as the UK's second full Veteran Friendly Care Home group by the Veteran Friendly Framework and builds on the success of special pilot Veterans Cafes held during Care Home Open Week 2024.
These cafes were a key part of Spellman Care's application to become a Veteran Friendly Care Home Group, where they demonstrated their commitment to creating inclusive and supportive communities for veterans within their homes.
The Veterans Cafes will provide a dedicated space for veterans, their families, and the wider community to connect, socialize, and enjoy an afternoon of refreshments and camaraderie.
The first cafe will be held on Wednesday, 29th January at 2:00 PM at Springbank Care Home in Silsden.
Subsequent cafes will take place as follows:
-
Thursday, 24th February: Steeton Court Nursing Home
-
Thursday, 24th March: Craven Nursing Home, Skipton
-
Monday, 29th April: Ghyll Royd Care Home, Guiseley
All cafes will be held from 2:00 PM and refreshments will be served throughout.
Nicola Cromwell, one of Spellman Care’s Armed Forces Champions, said:
"We are thrilled to launch these Veterans Cafes.
"These cafes will provide a valuable opportunity for individuals to connect with others who share similar experiences and build a strong sense of community."
The cafes are open to all and Spellman Care encourages veterans, their families, and all members of the community to attend.
