Community rallies to help elderly driver find 'missing' car in Skipton

North Yorkshire Police appealed to the Skipton community for support.

The Skipton community has been thanked for rallying together to help an elderly driver find his car after he forgot where he had parked it.

North Yorkshire Police issued an appeal earlier this week after the owner of a black Kia Rio could not remember where he had left the vehicle.

Officers believed the 64-plate car had been parked somewhere in the Skipton area on Tuesday (4th August) and asked members of the public to help locate it.

The appeal was widely shared and the car has now been successfully found.

Dale Neal, the driver’s son, thanked both police and members of the Skipton community for their help.

He said:

"A huge thank you to North Yorkshire Police and to all the good people of Skipton who helped find my dad's car.

"He's quite elderly now and was very confused at the time. We think the time may have come for him to finally hand in his keys."
