A husband-and-wife team from Skipton have launched private therapy services in the town after spending a combined 40 years working in the NHS.
Chris and Jennie Hardy are both registered nurses, with Chris specialising in mental health nursing and Jennie in general nursing.
The couple have recently brought their healthcare experience into private practice, offering hypnotherapy and medical acupuncture at separate locations in Skipton.
Chris provides solution-focused clinical hypnotherapy through Asclepieia Hypnotherapy, based at The Divergent Space on Victoria Street.
Jennie offers medical acupuncture from her clinic at The Glam Studio, 73 Keighley Road.
The couple say their professional nursing backgrounds are central to their approach, particularly as hypnotherapy and acupuncture are not subject to statutory regulation as standalone therapies in the UK.
They aim to provide treatments grounded in patient safety, professional ethics and evidence-informed practice.
Alongside their private clinics, the couple are preparing to offer weekly free hypnotherapy and acupuncture sessions in partnership with Cancer Support Yorkshire.
The sessions will be available to patients and carers, providing additional support to people affected by cancer.
Chris also writes a regular mental health and wellbeing column, focusing on reducing stigma around psychological care and helping people develop emotional resilience.
The couple are involved in supporting young people locally, sponsoring The Reason, the student newspaper at Ermysted's Grammar School.
Through the sponsorship, they hope to encourage young writers while promoting emotional wellbeing and open communication.
Further information about the couple's services is available through Asclepieia Hypnotherapy and Acupuncture by Nurse Jennie.
