A Skipton charity is appealing for support to help ensure children from struggling families receive a present this Christmas.
Skipton Step Into Action's Christmas Elves Appeal brings together local residents, businesses and volunteers to provide gifts for children whose families may be unable to afford them.
The scheme supports children aged 0 to 17 living in Skipton and surrounding villages, including Bradley, Cononley, Carleton, Cross Hills, Glusburn, Embsay, Gargrave and Thornton-in-Craven.
Families can request a gift worth between £20 and £25 for each child, with the requests added to an anonymous online gift list.
Members of the public can then choose a present to purchase, which will be collected, wrapped and delivered in time for Christmas by the charity's volunteers.
The appeal is designed to ensure children can enjoy the excitement of receiving a Christmas gift, while offering practical support to families facing financial difficulties.
Supporters can purchase gifts from any retailer, although the charity encourages people to shop locally where possible.
Donations can be dropped off at Walker Foster Solicitors on Skipton High Street, NFU Mutual at the Auction Mart or Skipton Properties.
Gifts should be left unwrapped in a carrier bag clearly marked with the recipient's identification number.
The charity is also welcoming financial donations, knitted hats and scarves, and offers of help from volunteers who can assist with wrapping presents.
Businesses interested in supporting the appeal can contribute gifts or make a financial donation.
Anyone wishing to request a gift, purchase a present or find out more about volunteering can visit the Skipton Step Into Action website here.
For further information, contact the charity on 01756 802098, Monday to Friday between 9am and 1pm, or email hcrabtree@ssia.org.uk.
