Details announced for Skipton's Remembrance Sunday parade

The procession will then continue along Otley Street before returning to Bunkers Hill.

Skipton's annual Remembrance Sunday parade and service will take place this weekend

The event will be held on Sunday 8th November 2026, with the parade beginning at approximately 10.40am.

Organised by Skipton Town Council, Holy Trinity Church and members of the former Skipton branch of the Royal British Legion, the event will include a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial on Skipton High Street and a service at Holy Trinity Church.

The parade will assemble on Bunkers Hill, near the court building, before setting off along Newmarket Street and turning onto the High Street.

At 11am, Mollie Renshaw will play the Last Post on the bugle before wreaths are laid at the War Memorial.

Following the church service, the parade will reform on The Bailey and march back down the High Street, where civic dignitaries will take the salute near the Sir Mathew Wilson statue.

The procession will then continue along Otley Street before returning to Bunkers Hill.

Those attending will include Mayor of Skipton Cllr Winston Feather, John Dawson on behalf of Skipton and Ripon MP Sir Julian Smith, North Yorkshire councillors Robert Heseltine and Andy Solloway, and Mr Giles Bowring DL, representing His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.

Members of the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery and the Army Foundation College in Harrogate will also take part, alongside representatives of the emergency services, youth organisations and community groups.

Skipton Brass will provide music during the occasion.

Road closures will be in place between 10am and 1pm, with the High Street expected to be particularly busy.

Tobias Garbutt, Events Supervisor, said:

“As always, we would ask drivers to be patient and to respect the occasion.

"Delays will be kept to a minimum, but the High Street is expected to be very busy and will need to be closed during both the Parade and the wreath-laying ceremony.

"Closures will be in place from 10am until 1pm”

He added:

“Everyone is very welcome to attend both the ceremony at the War Memorial and the church service.

"If you are planning to arrive by car, please allow sufficient time as access to the town centre car parks – particularly the main Town Hall Car Park - may be affected by the road closures.”
