To help promote cycling to young people in the Skipton area, Skipton Cycling Club will be running junior coaching sessions with a Qualified British Cycling Coach.
The sessions will begin from 1st May and they will offer a variety of sessions for different age groups.
Children will learn to cycle at Aireville Park and advanced students will learn to 'bunnyhop', learn new competition skills, do wheelies and more.
The ages/skill levels will vary and times will vary for each age category:
- 5-11 Years old “New Starters / Beginners” session (17.00-17.45hrs)
- 7-13 Year old “Intermediates” session (17.45-18.30hrs)
- 9-15 Years old “Advanced” session (18.30-19.30hrs)
All new starters must be able to scoot a bike without stabilisers.
A spokesperson for the cycling club said this via Facebook:
"This is a not for profit service provided by Skipton Cycling Club volunteers to help promote cycling to all and to continue the legacy of the Tour de France coming to Skipton in 2014."
Skipton Cycling Club set up in 2012 and are now affiliated to British Cycling.
Their aim is to offer organised group bike rides together in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and beyond.
The club have a number of different rides through the week, on a Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.
Plus on lighter evenings on a Tuesday and Thursday, the ladies only ride is also on a Thursday evening.
