Three local boys are challenging themselves to climb the Yorkshire Three Peaks for Airedale Hospital and Community Charity.
Teddy, Harry and Lucas will be taking on the challenge on 16th May.
The boys will be attempting to climb Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, covering around 24 miles (38km) of walking and over 5,000 feet of ascent across the Yorkshire Dales.
Teddy, having already completed the challenge two years ago at just seven years old, and this year he is hoping to beat his previous time.
Teddy and Lucas attend Lothersdale Primary School, while Harry attends Glusburn Primary School.
Together, they are hoping to raise as much money as possible to support children and families who rely on the amazing care provided by Airedale Hospital.
The boys all have experienced first-hand the incredible care and support provided by the hospital over the years.
Teddy and his sister Violet have both received treatment and support from Airedale Hospital.
Violet has been supported for her condition, talipes (commonly known as club foot), a condition where a baby’s foot turns inward and downward and requires ongoing treatment and care to help with mobility and development.
Teddy has also received treatment and support for amblyopia (often referred to as a “lazy eye”) and has undergone patching therapy to help strengthen his vision.
Lucas also has a special connection to the hospital, as he was born six weeks early and spent his first two weeks in the neonatal unit receiving specialist care and support.
Harry’s younger sister, Mila, has also received incredible support from the hospital through audiology services after developing hearing loss caused by CMV, a rare virus that can affect babies.
It was a paediatrician at Airedale Hospital who identified and tested for the condition when nobody suspected it, something the family will always be incredibly grateful for.
The challenge is being supported and organised by Cobbydale Forge Gym, based at Canal Works in Silsden, and the boys have been training hard in preparation for the big day.
Every donation, big or small, will help support the incredible work carried out at Airedale Hospital and help local children and families receive the care they need.
