Local MP Sir Julian Smith has encouraged schools across Skipton and Ripon to register for free educational visits to Parliament ahead of the next booking window opening later this month.
Bookings for visits taking place between April and July will open at 10am on Tuesday 28 January 2026 and must be made through the UK Parliament Education Booking Portal, which is now the only way for schools to secure places.
Sir Julian said the visits offer students a valuable opportunity to experience Parliament first-hand, learn about how democracy works in the UK, and take part in interactive workshops. He has urged schools to register on the portal in advance and be ready to log in as soon as bookings open due to high demand.
Each visit includes a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster, a workshop in Parliament’s Education Centre, and a question-and-answer session with the local MP, subject to availability.
There is capacity for up to 21 schools per day, and some schools may be eligible for financial assistance with travel costs.
Further information and registration details are available on the UK Parliament education website.
