Skipton will host its annual Christmas Lights Switch On event on Sunday 24th November, and Santa Fun Run organiser, Mr Peter Ripley, will be invited to flick the switch!
The switch on will take place at 5pm on Sunday 24th November 2024.
To start off the event, The Great Skipton Santa Fun Run will start on the High Street at 11 am.
This will see nearly two thousand Santa’s gathered ready to join in a guided warm-up, hosted by Emily Parkinson of No 45 Otley Street, before the Chairman, Mr Keith Drummend – Brassington sets them on their way at 11am.
The runners will receive their medals at 12pm followed by a programme of entertainment hosted by Your Skipton Radio.
Louise Close, Chief Officer said:
“The event really showcases the best of Skipton, a wholesome day from beginning to end.
It is only through the support and great partnership with organisations such as Skipton Rotary and BID, that Skipton Town Council can put on such a fantastic event.”
Attractions include traditional fairground rides, including a Helter skelter and carousel, which will be free of charge in order for the event to be accessible for everyone.
Festive walkabout entertainment, Reindeers, face and glitter painting are also joining the line up.
In addition to the host of entertainment and attractions is a selection of traders who will be providing food and drink including mulled wine, hot chocolate and loaded fries.
