The majority of the total came from the Great Skipton Santa Fun Run, which took place in November and attracted around 2,500 participants.
People ran, jogged, walked and took part using wheelchairs on a 5.3-kilometre course through the town.
The event raised £73,005 through entry fees, anonymous donations and contributions from teams and individual participants.
A further £10,612 was raised through the Santa Sleigh, along with collections held at Morrisons and Tesco in Skipton.
Peter Ripley, lead organiser of the Great Skipton Santa Fun Run, said the amount raised reflected the strength of community support behind the event. He said:
“The £73,005 raised from the Great Skipton Santa Fun Run is an incredible achievement and reflects the continuing success of this annual community event, which began in 2010 with 400 participants.
"Since then, the number of participants has increased to 2,500, and we have raised a grand total of £601,544.
"I am immensely proud of what we have achieved.”
Mr Ripley added that at least 50 officials were needed on the day, and thanked Rotarians from several clubs, their families, Friends of Rotary, Skipton Freemasons, Modality Partnership, Manorlands and Marie Curie for their support.
He also acknowledged local media support, including coverage from the Craven Herald and Your Skipton Radio.
He confirmed that this was Skipton Craven Rotary’s final year as organisers of the Santa Fun Run, due to the club’s small and ageing membership and some key members stepping down.
However, he said Skipton Rotary would take over the event to ensure it continues in future years.
Brian Stott, President of Skipton Craven Rotary, also reflected on the success of the Christmas fundraising activities.
He said:
“Congratulations to Peter Ripley and his team for yet another successful Santa Fun Run in this our final year as organisers.
"We pride ourselves in being part of the Skipton community, and the support for our Christmas fundraising activities clearly shows how much the people of Skipton value our efforts.”
Thanks were also given to volunteers and partner organisations, including Skipton Step into Action, whose members supported two of the Santa Sleigh nights.
