Skipton and District Christian Aid Group welcomed dozens of diners to their fundraising lunch in Embsay, raising £541.60 in donations.
The event was held in the Methodist Hall and included homemade soup, cheese and a hot drink.
Group member Liz Roodhouse explained:
“We have been providing a Lent Lunch with a Fairtrade stall for at least 20 years in Embsay. This year was incredibly busy with people even coming over from Sheffield.
“We had Christian Aid placemats out on the tables and some lovely table decorations made specially.
“There was plenty of sharing going on and many people commented on the lovely atmosphere - the large tables encouraged people to chat to each other and get to know people they hadn’t met before.”
The money raised goes to projects funded by international development agency, Christian Aid, which works with partners overseas providing humanitarian aid in emergencies as well as longer-term projects.
Initiatives are tailor-made to help support the specific needs of a community and could be anything from shelter and medicine in an emergency, to urban gardening schemes and counselling for survivors of sexual violence.
