Olympic star Freya Anderson to inspire young swimmers in Skipton

Olympic swimmer Freya Anderson is set to visit Skipton next month for a special session with young swimmers.

Skipton Swimming Club will welcome the British swimming star on Saturday 5th September for a training and inspiration session with its members.

The event will give local youngsters the chance to learn from Anderson and hear about her experiences competing at the highest level of the sport.

Freya has represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games and has enjoyed success at Commonwealth and European level during her swimming career.

She's a nine-time European champion and World Championship bronze medallist, and has also won six Commonwealth Games medals.

The visit is aimed at inspiring the next generation of swimmers while highlighting the opportunities grassroots clubs can provide for young athletes.

Claire Gatenby, Fundraising and Press Officer at Skipton Swimming Club, said:

"The event focuses on grassroots sport, youth opportunity and inspiring the next generation of Yorkshire athletes.

"It’s a really positive story around local young people, volunteering and the impact of grassroots sport."

Freya will spend time poolside with the club's young swimmers as part of the special session on Saturday 5th September.
