MP raises Cowling speeding concerns with police and council after residents' complaints

Concerns over speeding and road safety in Cowling have been raised with North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Council by Skipton and Ripon MP Sir Julian Smith following reports from local residents.

The MP says he has received a number of emails and met with constituents who are worried about vehicle speeds and dangerous driving in and around the village.

Residents have raised concerns about the safety of pedestrians, families and other road users, prompting Sir Julian to contact both the police and the council on their behalf.

Sir Julian Smith said:

"I have received a number of emails from residents in Cowling about speeding and road safety in the village, and I understand why many people are concerned.

"I have raised these issues directly with North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Council, highlighting the strength of feeling locally and the impact this is having on residents.

"I will continue to raise these concerns on behalf of the community and press the relevant authorities to engage with residents on this issue."

The MP is also encouraging people living in Cowling, and elsewhere across the Skipton and Ripon constituency, to share any concerns they have about road safety.

Residents who wish to raise issues relating to speeding or dangerous driving are invited to contact Sir Julian Smith directly by email.

The calls come as road safety continues to be a key concern for many rural communities, with residents often highlighting the impact of excessive speeds on village life and pedestrian safety.
