Luke’s Big Push gets underway as Skipton team takes on 130 mile challenge

Luke's Big Push.

A team of volunteers has set off from Skipton as Luke’s Big Push gets underway, with supporters backing the latest fundraising challenge for Thisisluke.

The challenge began on Sunday, August 23rd, with the team setting off from Sheffield and taking on a gruelling 130 mile route pushing a Puegeot 207.

The team are pushing for Car Fest, which is the UK’s biggest family festival of cars, music and food, founded by broadcaster Chris Evans.

Since 2012 the event has raised over £28 million for children’s charities.

Over six days, the group is pushing a car along the route, with the challenge due to finish on Friday, August 28th.

The first day saw the team travel from Skipton towards Sheffield before continuing on to Newark.

Organisers have been sharing updates from the challenge online, thanking people who came out to cheer the team on as they made their way through the first stages.

Luke’s Big Push is the latest fundraising effort from Thisisluke, with supporters being encouraged to follow the team's progress and get behind the challenge.

The push will be raising money for BBC Children In Need, Ellen Macarthur Cancer Trust, Rainbow Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust, Starlight and Young Epilepsy.

The unusual sight of a group of people physically pushing a car through towns and villages has already attracted attention, with videos shared online showing members of the public watching the challenge as it passes through.

The team have currently raised 47% of their £10,000 fundraising target, raising £4,655!
