Gallagher Family Funeral Directors are placing a 20ft Christmas tree outside their premises on Skipton Road.
The lights on the tree will represent the mums, dads, sons, daughters, grandmas, grandads, brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles and loving friends, families have lost in our community during 2024.
The tree has been supplied by local Hawkcliffe Farm Christmas Trees.
Airedale Hospital and Community Charity have received a £1,000 donation from Gallagher Family Funeral Directors for their ongoing Emergency Department Appeal.
Funds raised from the appeal will go towards making improvements to the bereavement facilities within the Emergency Department.
Sam Gallagher, Junior Funeral Director said:
“Earlier this year I was really privileged to be invited to meet with Community Fundraiser, Laura Hepworth, along with Matron, Nicky Denbow, and Cheryl Szulhan, Senior Sister of Airedale Hospital’s Emergency Department.
“I was shown around the Bereavement facilities in ED, this has brought a firsthand understanding of how desperately the funds are required to improve the facilities for families who face the loss of a loved one when in hospital.
“We recognise how hugely important it is for a family to spend time with their loved one, in a peaceful and quiet environment at such a difficult time.”
Laura Hepworth, Community Fundraiser said:
“With the current total just short of £90,000 we’re well on the way to hitting our target and beginning to make planned improvements to our Emergency Department.
“We’d like to express our gratitude to Gallagher Family Funeral Directors for their ongoing support to our causes including the Emergency Department Appeal and Neonatal Unit.
“Without their support we wouldn’t be able to continue doing the work that we do.”
If you would like to support the Emergency Department Appeal you can do so by making a donation on the dedicated Just Giving page here or the charity website www.airedalecharity.org/donate-to-one-of-our-appeals/.
If you would like to get involved and host your own fundraising event to support the appeal please get in touch with the charity team by email anhsft.charity@nhs.net or by phone 01535 294870.
