Addingham Garden Association raises over £9,000 for local charity

Addingham Allotments and Garden Association held an Open Garden weekend on 21st & 22nd June to raise money for a local charity.

The event included 2 days of gardens, art, music, stalls, raffles and food.

Entry was at £6 to help raise money for Sue Ryder palliative and bereavement support charity.

Funds for the charity were also raised from donations, the raffle, ticket sales and refreshment stalls.

The money was counted yesterday and the association announced they raised an amazing total of £9,117.70.

Stewart from the Open Gardens team said:

"This far exceeds both Sue Ryder’s expectations and ours and we are delighted to be able to support such a worthy local cause.

"It’s much more than just the money raised though, it was a fantastic weekend in which so many people came together to celebrate community and togetherness".

He added:

"So many folk to thank in making the event happen and staging it so spectacularly, both in the weeks and months leading up and over the weekend itself, and we will endeavour to say thank you to everyone in the coming days who gave up their time voluntarily and offered assistance.

"A particular thank you to the gardeners and allotmenteers and their magnificent green spaces, without you no event, and to the various artists, musicians and singers who all added much entertainment."
