Public toilets in the Glusburn and Cross Hills park have been closed until further notice following what has been described as significant vandalism.
The damage to the facilities is understood to be severe, leaving them out of use while assessments and repairs are arranged.
The toilets are considered an important amenity for park visitors and the wider community, and their closure is expected to cause disruption.
The incident has been reported to North Yorkshire Police.
Work is now underway to evaluate the extent of the damage and determine the repairs needed to bring the facilities back into use.
It has also been highlighted that the cost of repairs will be met using public funds, which would otherwise be allocated to other local services.
An apology has been issued to residents and visitors affected by the closure, along with thanks for their patience while the situation is resolved.
