MP Robbie Moore has visited Addingham Moorside to celebrate the latest round of tree planting delivered by the White Rose Forest, part of England’s Community Forests network.
The planting took place on land owned by local farmers Jill Feenam and Michael Flesher, which has helped the White Rose Forest deliver over 800,000 new trees across North and West Yorkshire this year.
The White Rose Forest team works with landowners, community groups and volunteers to create woodlands and hedgerows that reduce flood risk, capture carbon, boost biodiversity and improve access to green spaces.
In total, the White Rose Forest has supported:
• 2.5 million trees planted across 1,900 hectares of new woodland since 2020
• 60,000 metres of new hedgerows
• Engagement with over 7,000 volunteers in tree planting projects
Robbie Moore MP said:
“It was Fantastic to join the White Rose Forest team at Addingham Moorside to see the fantastic tree-planting initiative taking place alongside local farmers Jill Feenam and Michael Flesher.
Michael also runs the brilliant Ghyll House Camping - a spectacular farm-based campsite with views looking right over to Beamsley Beacon - without doubt one of the best views in all of mighty Yorkshire.
A huge thank you to Michael, Jill, and all the volunteers working hard to deliver the project.”
