Children Charlie and Freddie have been named as the winners of this year’s Monster Trail in Skipton.
The boys completed the town-wide activity and had been elected to receive a prize package. The Monster Trail formed part of Skipton’s half-term Halloween programme. Families were invited to explore the town centre and follow a themed map to locate spooky character displays hidden in the windows of participating local businesses. Each stop on the trail featured a different monster, encouraging children to record clues and complete a mystery passphrase for entry into a prize draw. Alongside the trail, a pop-up pumpkin patch also took place, offering a seasonal activity point for families to visit once they had finished the route around town. According to the BID, nearly 1,000 people took part in the trail. Entry data indicated that participants travelled from a range of regions, including as far as Penrith in the north and London in the south, to take part. Local businesses supported the initiative by hosting monster displays and donating prizes. The event was designed to encourage footfall into the town centre and offer a family-friendly activity during the school holidays.
