Regional Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith, announced that he would be funding local schemes as part of a new fund.
The £2.4million High Street Fund aims to support the long-term regeneration of high streets across York and North Yorkshire through investment in ambitious local projects.
Its key objectives are to strengthen the resilience of town centres and support improvements that help high streets thrive for years to come.
Skipton's scheme, 'Vibrant Skipton' aims to improve the quality and attractiveness of the town for residents, visitors and businesses and improve economic growth.
£62,015 has been granted to the scheme to help achieve this goal.
In a recent Facebook post, David Skaith shared some of the plans to improve the quality of the town.
In the video he shared that money would be invested into improving shop fronts and producing more maps for the area.
Leading the application was Hearts of Skipton Community Interest Company.
They support the local area at their coffee shop, Hearts Coffee which is run by owner, Edwin Rothwell.
Edwin recently met with MP Julian Smith to discuss the local's thoughts on how the area could be improved.
26 projects in 13 different locations led by local partnerships were successful in applying for funding from Phase Three.
