North Yorkshire Police have confirmed:
At around 9.30pm on 23 February, a BMW was seen driving at speed through the town and failed to stop for officers when requested.
A pursuit that reached speeds of 90mph followed as the vehicle was seen to drive on the wrong side of the road and the wrong way down a one-way street.
It came to a stop in the Ings Lane area where the driver and passenger were arrested.
The driver, a 24-year-man from the Accrington area was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for the police, driving without insurance and a licence offence. He has since been charged with all four offences and will appear at Skipton Magistrates’ Court on 10 March.
His passenger, a 20-year-old man from Skipton was also arrested at the time but has since been released with no further action taken.
