North Yorkshire Council has written to residents and businesses near Keighley Road, Craven Street and the Keighley Road/Carleton Road junction.
The letter advised those in that area of upcoming traffic signal improvement works. According to the letter, the council is planning to carry out works to upgrade the traffic signal system at the junctions. The aim of the scheme is to install a more adaptive traffic signal controller to improve junction coordination and overall efficiency. The works are currently scheduled to begin on 26th January 2026. During this period, four-way and three-way temporary traffic lights, as well as lane closures will be used. The most disruptive elements of the work are expected to take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm. However, the council has advised that some disruption cannot be avoided. Residents and business owners have been advised that there may be extended periods when access is not possible due to the nature of the work and physical constraints of the location. Pedestrian access will be maintained wherever possible.
