A new family-friendly trail is set to launch in Skipton later this month
The Buzzing Skipton Trail will feature a series of stops at locations across the town, where participants can observe wildlife, complete activities and discover more about the natural environment.
The trail will officially launch on Saturday 26th July with a family event taking place next to the canal on Coach Street.
Activities on the day will include building mini insect houses and creating butterfly badges at Craven Arts House, which marks the end of the trail.
The project has been developed by Skipton Business Improvement District (BID) and The Artery, working alongside local partners.
Skipton BID Manager Sarah Howsen said:
"We're excited to bring this new trail into our town centre as a part of the overall Buzzing Skipton project.
"It's a fantastic chance to explore what nature has to offer right here in Skipton, all while learning important information and following along with an interesting story.
"Once again we would like to thank the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority for the funding, helping to bring this brilliant project to life for the good of our town."
Along the route, visitors will be able to scan QR codes to listen to audio clips that tell the story of Bombus while completing activities at each stop.
Following the launch event, the trail will remain in place until 9th August.
Trail sheets will be available to collect from the launch event on Coach Street and from Craven Arts House.
During the following two weeks, they can also be collected from Craven Arts House or Skipton Town Council Offices on Otley Street.
Completed trail sheets can be returned to Craven Arts House, or posted through the letterbox at the Town Council offices when Craven Arts House is closed, for the chance to win a prize.
The Buzzing Skipton Trail forms part of the wider Buzzing Skipton project, which aims to enhance green spaces and encourage more people to enjoy nature in the town centre.
The initiative has been funded through the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire's Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund.
