Yorkshire Water will start work on a project in Addingham today, Monday 8 September, on Low Mill Lane to protect the river Wharfe and improve how it manages stormwater.
The improvement works will be carried out by Yorkshire Water's partner, M Group, installing a new chamber and pipeline to boost sewage storage and help manage heavy rainfall more effectively.
The work is starting on Monday 8 September, and is expected to be completed by Friday 19 September.
To carry out the work safely, there’ll be a temporary road closure of Low Mill Lane weekdays from 9:00 am to 3:30pm. Outside these hours, road plates will allow traffic to pass.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said:
"Please plan ahead if you’re travelling in the area, and thank you for bearing with us!"
The work at Addingham is expected to complete in 2026. Further investment will take place at Bridge Lane storm overflow and Ilkley Middleton sewage pumping station in the coming months, all of which are also expected to be completed in 2026.
