Owners Julia and Steve have announced their departure via Facebook.
The bar first opened in 2019 and has since hosted hundreds of live music events, featuring artists such as Albert Lee, The Bluetones, Chris Helme and Nigel Clarke.
Over the years, it has built a reputation as a live music venue, receiving two awards in recognition of its contribution to the local scene.
Former owners Julia and Steve reflected on the journey, thanking staff, musicians and customers for their support.
"Thank you to all the brilliant staff members who've ever worked for us since we opened.
"The team make the bar, and you all certainly did us proud! Huge thanks too to all the amazing musicians who have graced our stage, and squeezed into the Little Mess corner".
The couple made the decision to step down as owners to travel around musical states in America.
The pair continued:
"We could never have imagined that when we had the idea of creating a new quirky bar (off the beaten track), that you'd all welcome us with wide, open arms and make the bar such a success.
"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
"As much as we absolutely love The Mess Room, it's now time for us to take some time to enjoy life a little, and place ourselves at the other side of the bar for a while"
Future events and bookings at The Mess Room will continue as planned under the new ownership.
Steve will remain involved in the music scene as a freelance sound engineer, while Julia and Steve both intend to explore new ventures, starting with a trip to the United States.
