The Principle Trust Children’s Charity is proud to announce the opening of its third fully accessible respite holiday home, located at Haven Holiday Park, Primrose Valley in Filey.
This launch marks a significant milestone in the Skipton based charity’s mission to support vulnerable children and families across Yorkshire.
The newly opened property has been carefully designed and adapted to meet the needs of adults and children with complex medical conditions and physical disabilities, enabling more families to access safe, comfortable and restorative respite breaks by the sea.
The fully accessible home includes: wheelchair ramp access, wider doorways and sliding doors throughout, ceiling-mounted bed trapeze in the main bedroom, fully adapted wet room, and accommodation for up to four guests across two twin bedrooms.

Family feedback has consistently highlighted travel costs as a major barrier preventing low-income families from accessing respite opportunities. By establishing a new home on the Yorkshire coast, the charity aims to reduce travel expenses and journey times for families in East and South Yorkshire. Beyond this, The Principle Trust Children’s Charity also hopes to strengthen partnerships with regional referral organisations and ensure respite breaks are accessible to families who need them most.
Primrose Valley was chosen for its combination of natural coastal beauty and family-friendly facilities, including direct path access to the beach and a wide range of on-site entertainment and leisure activities, helping families relax and create lasting memories together.
Since its launch in 2011 by founder Mike Davies MBE, The Principle Trust Children’s Charity has provided respite breaks for almost 6,000 children through its homes in Blackpool, Filey and the Lake District. With the addition of the new property, the charity now owns eight respite homes, enabling it to support approximately 308 vulnerable children and families each year with life-changing breaks away from daily challenges.
Mike Davies MBE said:
“This opening is a hugely proud moment for the charity as we celebrate our 15th anniversary. We know that families caring for children with complex needs face enormous daily pressures, and something as simple as a holiday can feel completely out of reach. This new home means more families across Yorkshire can experience precious time together, rest, and make happy memories in a safe and supportive environment.”
Fundraising events soon for The Principle Trust Children’s Charity include a second Charlotte Tilbury Masterclass & Afternoon Tea on Sunday 22nd March at Rudding Park in Harrogate and Rugby4Respite: The Ilkley T5s Tag Rugby Tournament 2026 at Ilkley Rugby Club on Sunday 19th April.
