A knife bin in Skipton has recovered a whopping 69 knives and sharp objects in just one week.

The bin was placed at Skipton Town Hall car park to allow people to safely dispose of the bladed items.

And North Yorkshire Police have counted 69 items - each regarded as “one less potential danger on our streets.”

There is also a bin in place at the Whitefriars car park in Settle.

A police spokesperson said:

“These bins are there for anyone to use, anonymously and safely. If you, a friend, or a family member needs to dispose of a knife or blade, please use one of the bins.

“Together, we can reduce knife crime and make our communities safer.”
