A group of year 7 students from South Craven School won a prize at a local science competition last week.
The students named their team, The Southy Ducks.
The team took home the chemistry prize at the Inter-Alliance Science Competition at Lawnswood School.
Mrs Cooper, Teacher of Science, said:
"Well done to the Southy Ducks for representing the school and rising to the Science challenge!"
As part of the competition, the student's first challenge was to design a boat that would hold the most weight.
The team's designs were innovative, and they gained additional points for artistic flare.
Next up, the Biology challenge tasked the students with making a DNA model using the information they had been given.
The final challenge was the Chemistry task, which involved a series of escape room-style tasks that when completed, unlocked the next task.
The group excelled in this challenge, and won the prize for their Chemistry skills, completing a total of 16 tasks in the 40 minutes given.
