Whinfield Bowling Club, Skipton, is inviting people of all ages to discover the enjoyment of crown green bowling at a free Open Day on Sunday 12 July, as part of the national Bowls Big Summer Campaign.
The event is designed to introduce newcomers to one of Britain's most sociable and accessible outdoor sports, with dedicated sessions for families and adults.
The programme includes:
- 10am – 12 noon: Families and children (children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
- 1pm – 3pm: Adult session
No previous experience is required, and all equipment will be provided. Participants simply need to wear comfortable clothing and soft flat shoes or trainers. Refreshments will also be available throughout the day.
Crown green bowling is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, offering gentle exercise, improved balance and mobility, and an excellent opportunity to meet new people and enjoy the outdoors.
The sport continues to grow in popularity among those looking for an enjoyable way to stay active and socially connected.
Open day Co-ordinator Carol Hayhurst said:
"We are holding a fun-filled day of bowling activities for the whole family.
"If you have ever fancied giving crown green bowling a try, come along and have a go – you will be more than welcome.
"It's a great opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, meet new people and discover a sport that people often find surprisingly enjoyable once they give it a try."
The club hopes the event will encourage local residents, families and friends to experience the welcoming atmosphere that makes crown green bowling such a popular community activity.
