The Skipton-based children's charity has received a £5,000 donation that will help provide respite breaks for families caring for children with serious illnesses.
The Principle Trust Children's Charity has been awarded the funding by The Fence Club, a UK children's charity and networking organisation established in 1950 that raises money to support children's hospices and disability causes.
The £5,000 donation will fund free respite holidays for 10 children and their families, giving them the opportunity to take a break from the pressures of day-to-day life while creating lasting memories together.
The Principle Trust works with a network of referral partners, including Sunbeams and Forget Me Not, to identify families who would benefit most from the holidays.
Forget Me Not provides specialist nursing care, hydrotherapy, creative therapy, memory-making experiences, bereavement support and counselling for families facing or living with the loss of a child.
Sunbeams supports children and teenagers who are coping with the serious illness or death of a loved one receiving care through Rotherham Hospice.
The charity says the respite breaks offer families a chance to step away from hospital appointments, treatments and financial pressures, allowing parents and children to spend valuable time together in a more relaxed environment.
As well as benefiting parents and children with complex medical needs, the holidays also provide opportunities for siblings to enjoy shared experiences and feel included, helping to strengthen family relationships during difficult times.
Mike Davies MBE, founder of The Principle Trust Children's Charity, welcomed the donation and thanked The Fence Club for its support.
He said:

"Hopefully, we can make a big difference to lots of children's lives."
The Principle Trust, based in Skipton, provides free respite holidays for disadvantaged, disabled and seriously ill children and their families, helping them create positive memories together during some of life's most challenging circumstances.
