Skipton’s own Sam Ashby has continued to make headlines during this year’s Big Brother series, with viewers recently treated to one of the show’s most dramatic twists yet.
Earlier this week, Sam was “fake evicted” from the house, only to re-enter moments later through a secret mirror entrance after spending time in a hidden room with returning contestants Emily Hewertson and Farida Khalifa.
The trio were able to watch the remaining housemates from their private quarters before making their surprise comeback — a twist that has been hailed as one of the series highlights so far.
Since entering the Big Brother house, Sam has become a well-known face among fans for his upbeat personality and easygoing attitude.
The singer and Zumba instructor has also been open about forming close friendships inside the house — including with fellow contestant Zelah Glasson — though both have said they are simply enjoying the experience.
Two housemates were shown flirting earlier in the week, but it appears there was more to the story as the show’s livestream later captured the two of them sharing an intimate moment in their bedroom.
It has now come to light that Big Brother is not Sam’s first appearance on television. In 2019, he featured on MTV’s dating show Love Squad, hosted by Charlotte Dawson.
The show saw single contestants enlist their friends to help them find a match, with Sam appearing as a potential suitor for a participant named Martin. Although he was not chosen for the final date, his brief stint showcased his light-hearted sense of humour.
Now, several years on, Sam’s Big Brother journey is introducing him to a much wider audience. Whether his stay in the house continues for long remains to be seen, but one thing is clear — Skipton has a familiar face making waves in the world of primetime television.
Sam is among favourites to win the series, with the unconfirmed finale date to be set for some time in November 2025.
