Various competitions will be held for under 18s this winter in the Craven area to showcase young talent.
The competitions range from art to debating.
Thousands of youngsters take part every year in Rotary youth competitions which in most cases take the form of regional heats followed by a national final.
The majority are categorised into junior, intermediate and advanced age groups.
This year's theme is "Wonderful Water", which each child should use as inspiration for their entry.
The competitions that Skipton Rotary are holding include:
- Young Artist- Budding young painters, illustrators and artists can showcase their creative flair with a wide audience by taking part in the Rotary Young Artist competition. Participants have the opportunity to interpret the competition's annual theme.
- Young Chef- Contestants prepare and present a three course meal within a pre-set budget and time limit, which is judged by an expert panel.
- Young Musician- Talented young people will demonstrate their musical skills.
- Young Photographer- Entrants submit three photographs on a theme in black and white or colour, along with a description of the inspiration for their photographs.
- Young Writer- The winning writers are published in Rotary magazines.
- Technology tournament- Teams of students interested in engineering and science compete in a one day event to devise and build a solution to an unseen technical task. Solutions are tested & judged against competitors.
- Youth Speaks- This competition showcases superb quality speakers.
Prizes and locations will vary for each competition.
If you are interested in entering your child for any of these competitions, you can visit Skipton Rotary's website here.
