Skipton is getting ready to celebrate Yorkshire Day this weekend, with a packed programme of free entertainment, family activities and community events taking place across the town.
The annual celebrations on Saturday 1st August will see residents and visitors come together to celebrate Yorkshire's heritage, with events running throughout the day and into the evening.
Skipton BID will once again host its Yorkshire Day celebrations at the Canal Basin and Coach Street Car Park, featuring a range of free activities including circus skills workshops, Morris dancing, live music and family entertainment.
Highlights of the day's programme include a Yorkshire Day Proclamation at 11.50am, circus tricks workshops from 10.30am, Morris dancers at 11am, free family activities running from 10am until 4pm and live music from midday through to 7pm.
Food and drink will also be available, with the celebrations continuing later into the evening for the first time.
Skipton BID Manager Sarah Howsen said:
"It's nearly here! We're so excited to bring the Yorkshire-themed fun back into Skipton this weekend.
"We've got a whole host of free family-friendly fun on offer across the day, so don't miss out and come see us.
"Skipton is going to be a hive of Yorkshire Day celebrations over the weekend, so what better place to commemorate our amazing county?"
There will also be plenty happening elsewhere around the town across the weekend.
Families can explore the Woolly Sheep Trail or the Buzzing Skipton Trail, with trail sheets available for those looking to discover more of the town while being in with a chance of winning prizes.
The Great Yorkshire Circus will also be in Skipton from 29th July until 2nd August, while entertainer Ray Bubbles will bring his Ultimate Bubble Shows to Skipton Town Hall on Saturday with performances at 11am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
History enthusiasts will have a choice of guided walks, including the family-friendly Pooey Peasant's Guide to Stinkin' Skipton and the evening Skipton Ghost Tour.
Meanwhile, Raikes Road Burial Ground will host an open day with guided talks exploring the site's history.
Craven Arts will also mark Yorkshire Day with a creative workshop inspired by the work of Yorkshire-born artist David Hockney.
Organisers say the events listed are just some of those taking place across the town over the Yorkshire Day weekend, with visitors encouraged to explore everything Skipton has to offer as the celebrations get underway.
