Skipton MP meets North Yorkshire Police Chief Constable to discuss policing priorities

Skipton and Ripon MP Sir Julian Smith has met with North Yorkshire Police Chief Constable Tim Forber to discuss policing priorities and the challenges facing communities across the county.

The meeting took place at North Yorkshire Police Headquarters in Northallerton and covered a range of topics, including neighbourhood policing, crime prevention, online crime, support for victims, workforce planning and the use of technology within the force.

During the discussion, Sir Julian heard about the pressures facing police services nationally, as well as the work being carried out by North Yorkshire Police to respond to changing demands while maintaining local policing services.

The pair also discussed the increasing impact of online crime and the importance of ensuring officers have access to the technology and resources needed to protect communities across North Yorkshire.

Following the meeting, Sir Julian Smith said:

"It was great to meet Chief Constable Tim Forber and hear directly about the work being undertaken by North Yorkshire Police to keep our communities safe.

"We discussed a wide range of issues affecting policing, from neighbourhood policing and tackling crime to the increasing demands created by online offending and domestic abuse.

"I was pleased to hear about the strong work being carried out across North Yorkshire and the force's focus on maintaining high standards while embracing new technology and innovation.

"I will continue to work closely with North Yorkshire Police and raise local concerns where needed."

The meeting forms part of ongoing engagement between the MP and North Yorkshire Police on issues affecting residents across Skipton, Ripon and the wider county.
