Silsden Town Hall seeks new trustees to help shape its future

Silsden Town Hall is looking to expand its board of trustees as it continues its work supporting the local community and planning for the future.

The Friends of Silsden Town Hall, the charity responsible for operating the historic building, has launched a recruitment drive to attract new trustees with a range of skills and experience.

Originally founded in 1883 with the aim of providing "cultural enrichment of the community", the Town Hall is home to Silsden Library and hosts a wide variety of activities, events and community groups throughout the year.

Alongside its cultural programme and heritage activities, the venue is regularly used by local organisations offering karate, majorettes, line dancing, fencing, chess, indoor bowls and other community sessions.

The charity says it is looking for practical and collaborative individuals to help oversee different aspects of its operation and support the continued development of the Town Hall.

In particular, applications are being welcomed from people with experience in business development, human resources, building maintenance, community work or fundraising.

The Friends of Silsden Town Hall says applicants do not need senior management experience, adding that skills gained through community groups, voluntary work, the arts or smaller organisations are equally valuable.

Successful applicants will join the trustee board in helping to guide the charity, support its long-term sustainability and continue developing the Town Hall as a community asset.

The closing date for applications is midday on Friday 18th September 2026.
