For the fifth year in a row Sutton in Craven Cricket Club have donated cricket sets to Airedale NHS Foundation Trusts Children’s Unit over the Christmas period.
2025 was extra poignant as the team donated the gifts in memory of Chris Todd, Club Treasurer who passed away earlier in the year. In 2021, Chris made the decision to donate cricket sets to the unit for children spending time in hospital to encourage physical activity after discharge.
Chris’s wife, Katrina and best friend Stuart, who is also President of the club were keen to ensure his legacy continued and were proud to hand over the donation along with members of the youth and ladies’ team.
Stuart Robinson, President commented:
“As a club we’re really proud to have been able to follow in Chris’s footsteps and continue this annual donation in his memory. It’s a great feeling for all of us at the club, and an important way for us to remember everything he did for our local community.
“I’d like to personally thank everyone who has supported Sutton-in-Craven Cricket Club throughout the year and for giving us the opportunity to give back. We look forward to supporting Airedale Hospital and Community Charity and the patients of Airedale in the future.”
Jodie Hearnshaw, Charity Manager said:
“It brought us so much joy to once again welcome the team from Sutton CC to Airedale. The team have been fantastic supporters, and they never miss an opportunity to give back where they can.
“To see the team continuing Chris’s work was extremely heartwarming. We will never forget his annual visit and the incredible kindness he showed. The donations we have received from Sutton CC over the years have helped our patients, their families and our colleagues. We’re really grateful for the club’s continued support and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them.”
