Cross Hills-based Leightons Estate Agency has made a donation of £882 to Airedale Hospital and Community Charity.
The donation was in support of its Comfort Chair Campaign at Airedale General Hospital.
The campaign was launched to support the Airedale NHS Foundation Trust Palliative Care team, who provide care and emotional support to patients and families during end-of-life care.
Its aim is to ensure that every ward at Airedale General Hospital has a specialist recliner chair, allowing loved ones to sit or rest comfortably at a patient’s bedside during their final days.
Karen Jones, Palliative Care Team Leader, said the additional equipment would make a meaningful difference to families using the service.
She said:
“Being able to provide a specialist palliative care recliner chair for every ward is going to make such a difference to the families we support day to day during such a difficult time.
"The team from Leightons Estate Agency have very kindly donated the cost of one chair which will allow a family member or friend to sit or sleep at a patient’s bedside during their stay in hospital.
"By providing this chair, Leightons has given families the chance to be there when it matters the most.”
The fundraising target for the campaign is £10,500, which would allow each ward within the hospital to have its own dedicated chair without needing to share equipment between wards.
Carla Weatherall, Charity Fundraiser for Airedale Hospital and Community Charity, thanked supporters for their contributions so far.
She said:
“We’d like to personally thank everyone for their support of this campaign so far.
"Once again, the generosity of our community has been incredible.
"With an amazing £8,830 of the target already reached we’re so close to providing this equipment. As Airedale NHS Foundation Trust’s dedicated charity, it brings us so much joy to be able to work with local businesses and make a difference to our patients, visitors and colleagues across the Airedale community.”
