Craven Lawn Tennis Club in Gargrave has crowned its President's Day champions following a closely contested annual competition.

The club's annual President's Day event saw members compete in a round robin tournament, with Graeme Southam and Sally Clarke successfully retaining their titles after another strong performance.

The competition proved to be one of the closest in recent years, with just four games separating the top three pairs.

The final play-off set was also tightly contested, with Joe Emmett and Michele Graham-Roe finishing as runners-up after narrowly missing out on the title.

Club President Trevor Dixon presented the trophies to the winners and runners-up following the event.

Craven Lawn Tennis Club says it welcomes new members throughout the year.

The Gargrave-based club offers four grass courts, the only grass tennis courts in Craven, alongside three all-weather courts with floodlights, allowing members to play throughout the year.

The club also continues to host weekly croquet sessions on Tuesday afternoons during the summer months, with organisers encouraging anyone interested in trying the sport to come along while the grass courts remain playable.

A spokesperson for the club said:

"The club is always ready to welcome new members at any point during the year."
