Wool-filled weekend planned for Yarndale in Skipton

Yarndale is back at Skipton Auction Mart this weekend

All things woolly are being celebrated this weekend as Yarndale 2025 takes place at Skipton Auction Mart.

Yarn lovers, makers, and crafters from across the world are meeting up for the annual event on both Saturday and Sunday (27th and 28th September), with stalls to browse and hands-on workshops to join.

The award-winning festival of yarn and woolly creativity is a vibrant celebration of wool in all its forms and has more than 200 independent exhibitors on site - all helping to tell the story of wool - from fleece to finished piece.

Visitors can look forward to a diverse offering of yarns, fibres, and tools from independent artisans, along with a wide array of workshops led by experienced tutors. The event also features a free programme of inspiring talks and the return of Making Space, a welcoming area where everyone is invited to sit, stitch, and share skills. The friendly team from the North Yorkshire Yarn Trail will be on hand, and Darn It Workshops will offer practical mending tips.

Guests are also encouraged to take part in creating a large community rag rug, weaving in the traditional Dales traditions, Bradford’s rich cultural heritage, and the shared threads of history that bind us all together.

The three recipients of the Yarndale Start-Up Bursary, awarded in memory of Amanda Bloom and Jenny Machin — Auspicious Stitch, Esca, and Oxford Biocolours — are excited to take part in the show and gain valuable experience in exhibiting.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, organiser Emma Sandoe said:

“We’re so looking forward to meeting everyone again at Yarndale. We are delighted to be welcoming people again from all over the world to our sheepshed full of woolly wonder, surrounded by friendly fellow yarn folk and we hope everyone heads home with bags full of fabulous yarny stuff and splendid new projects in mind.

“We’re also proud to be supporting our 2025 charity partner, Dementia Forward, to help raise awareness and funds for their vital services.”

Online tickets for Yarndale are available until 5pm on Thursday 25 September. Tickets will then be available on the door from 12.30pm on both days for £20.
