Police have named a 13-year-old girl who died after being pulled from the River Wharfe near Burnsall.
The funeral of Palwasha Akbar, reportedly a Year 9 student at Bronte Girls Academy in Bradford, was held at Abu Bakar Masjid on Steadman Terrace yesterday (Wednesday).
The 13-year-old was pulled from the River Wharfe just after 6.30pm on Sunday 31st May after being reported missing in the water.
Palwasha was airlifted to hospital but despite the efforts of members of the public at the scene and medical staff, she sadly died.
The funeral announcement reads:
"We humbly request your du'as [prayers] for the deceased and family.
"May Allah Almighty grant her a beautiful place in the gardens of Jannah [paradise] and may the Almighty give the family patience this difficult time."
